5 Bars You Need to Try in London

Everyone loves a drink on a Friday night, whether it’s with your colleagues, friends or a significant other. Sadly there comes a time when the local boozer becomes a little drab. Here are 5 bars you need to try around London to spice up your weekend.

The Alchemist
With their first venue opening in 2010, the alchemists have come along way in putting their own stamp on the market. With one venue in Liverpool Street and two more to open in the next 6 months, soon there will be plenty of science-themed concoctions to go round. Not only do the cocktails taste great, they really adopt the science aesthetic with flames, smoke and bubbles and serve shots in miniature beakers.

London Cocktail Club
The clue is in the name. The LCC is a franchise that operates throughout the city with a distinct party bar theme. With loud music, low lights and a hipster/relaxed decor*, it is the perfect bar for many occasions. Enjoy a cocktail topped with a custard creme or a fruity old fashioned. Just watch your head when they swing the lights at the bar!

Coq d’Argent
More of a restaurant than an out-and-out bar, this venue ticks the box for those with a slightly more sophisticated taste. Just a short walk from Bank, it’s hidden away at the top of some apartments/office buildings – a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The relaxed rooftop garden is the perfect place to sink a few glasses of rouge.

Callooh Callay
A place where you feel transported to a previous era; cosy, dark and a menu with cocktails you’ve never heard of (unless you’ve been before of course). Callooh Callay is tucked away in a Shoreditch side street but seems to attract half of the city on a Friday or Saturday night. Be warned, all their drinks really pack a punch – not for the light-hearted who prefer the sweet and fruity cocktails. The bar staff are also really nice to look at.

The Folly
In the heart of the business district, The Folly is a go-to for lunch, dinner and drinks for all occasions. Part of Drake and Morgan who have venues across the city, the botanical-themed wine bar is the perfect for a few drinks with a date or a boogie with your pals late on a Thursday and Friday night. The Folly is a venue where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of the 9-5 life.
