I’m not a great believer in New Year’s Resolutions.
Self development? Yes.
Drastic lifestyle changes to satisfy a social construct that makes money for the capitalist giants? No thanks.
So what’s my goal/self development for the new decade? I’ve decided to tune in to my mental health more and take time out of the whirlwind of life to relax and unwind. When living in a capital city and working a stressful recruitment job, it’s a lot easier said than done.
A couple of months ago, I discovered Calm. An app that has helped me tune out of the cacophony of the metropolis and tune into a slither of inner peace. Whether I need a soundscape playing whilst I’m reading, a short meditation session or some calming music to practice yoga to, Calm has everything I need to relax.
Let’s take a mini tour…
There are tonnes of options for meditation. Stress, Anxiety, Sleep and mediation practice for beginners like me! There really is a wealth of content for whatever your mood and life situation. Meditation not your thing? There are sleep stories and calming music options and even calming visual cues too:
So next time you’re tucking into bed to get lost in an abyss of random YouTube videos or binge on Netflix until 2am, download calm and let you anxiety and worries melt away.
What helps you unwind and tap into your inner peace?
